Meet the 2022 winner and 5 runners-up

Community service and giving is a big part of Nationwide’s DNA, and we are proud to recognize the efforts of our agency partners in their communities. Each year, Nationwide honors agencies nominated for making a difference, and once again this year we are proud to donate in the names of the six selected to receive the Agency Community Service Award for 2022.

Howard Hanna Insurance Services, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, was selected as the overall winner. A donation of $5,000 will be made in their honor. The Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund supports their community by contributing funds, critical item donations, volunteers, and event participation support to numerous nonprofits and causes - featured in their nomination were children’s hospitals and programs, as well as the Ronald McDonald House Charities ® of Pittsburgh. This agency believes that community involvement is an extension of what they do every day - protecting people and preparing them for the unexpected. They work hard to make an impact outside of their 8-hour workday and beyond the office, which in turn has llowed agency employees to strengthen their teamwork and share positive experiences with one another.

Five runners-up will each receive a $1,000 donation to the nonprofit of their choice. These agencies and the community service efforts featured in their nomination are listed below.

  • Brown & Brown of Washington – Lynden, Washington Now in its 10th year, the agency sponsors an annual Thanksgiving turkey drive that provides support to families served by two local food banks. To date, the agency has purchased more than 2,300 turkeys for families in need, enabling them to enjoy a traditional holiday meal.

  • Klinger & Associates, Inc. – Germantown, Maryland: Through its Klinger Cares initiative, and especially during the pandemic, the agency has made it a priority to give back and support the lives of young students, needy families, business owners, animals, veterans, and more.
